Barometer: How to Measure Pressure

Click on the link above to view this website.

In the Summer of 2008, I created a website that shows how to use a website and simulations to introduce and teach barometers. The title of this project, "Barometer: How to Measure Pressure," shows a barometer is used today to measure weather reports via atospheric pressure in the air. This is a prototype example of how effective media would play in the instruction of this lesson. This project is available in both English and Spanish.

This project has a specific interactive flash application called "Ascent to Mount Everest." It shows the learner the different obstacles that hikers face in route to the summit of Mount Everest. To view this interactive module, click on the following link:

Sargent College Online

Click on the link above to view a powerpoint presentation pertaining to this website.

In the Summer of 2008, I worked on a project with faculty of Sargent College's Department of Occupational Therapy. In an effort to help online OTD students collaborate more effectively, I developed a prorotype companion to Blackboard Vista called "Sargent College Online." This interface provides links to asynchronous Web 2.0 learning tools like wikis, blogs, podcasts, and forums.

I was able to present this research to a prospective employer as a model of my instructional design knowledge and skills. To view this website, click on the following link:

Smartboard/Sympodium Research

Click on link above to view SITE conference presentation.

In the Summer of 2007, I worked on an independent project through my work at Boston University's Sargent College to implement a new, useful technology into the classroom. After many surveys, questionaires, and observations, I was able to research the possible need for Smartboard or Sympodium technologies in the college. As a college of Health Sciences, faculty would benefit significantly from a technology that provides more interaction to their class presentation. The response to these new technologies was very encouraging and the college has now purchased two sympodiums and 1 smartboard.

I was able to present my findings at the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference held on March 3-7, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. The link below is to the abstract of my presentation. To view the pbublished abstract to this presentation, click on the following link:

Language League

Click on link above to view complete documentation to this game.

In the Spring of 2007, I had the opportunity to take two classes that collaborated on the same projects. They were entitled EM617: Advanced Development of Interactive Media and EM802: Interactive Design.

In the first class, I learned the theoretical and behavioral backgrounds behind user design, including designing for the user. In the second class, I applied these skills while learning Macromedia Flash to create an interactive game. This game was created by myself and another student. Although the game is not a full version, it does allow the user to navigate through an activity for 2-3 grade students in the area of Language Arts. Deltek Software, Inc.

Click on the link above to view documentation.

In the Fall of 2006, I had the opportunity to work as a temp a Deltek Software. Deltek creates accounting software for Architectural and Engineering firms. I had a variety of responsibilities while working 3 months at this location. Among these, was the opportunity to help the packaging of training manuals and software.

In my course entitled EM701: Instructional Design, I was given a final assignment to create a solution to a key need at a location of work. Through several conversations, I learned that Deltek had trouble with training and turn-over in their sales consulting position. This project details a solution to this problem.
